Dental Fluid Dispensing Applications with the SmartDispenser®

The SmartDispenser® and its Genius® components are fluid dispensing products that utilize AirFree® technology to provide users with a consistent, repeatable assembly fluid deposit worldwide which results in increased bottom line profits through higher productivity, fewer rejects, less fluid waste and lower production costs. The SmartDispenser® is used across a variety of industries including aerospace/defense, automotive, electronics, fiber optics, photovoltaics/renewable energy, and medical device. Within the medical device industry, the SmartDispenser® and its Genius® components are used for dental fluid applications.

The SmartDispenser® is ideal for manufacturers of dental pastes, manufacturers of dental instruments, manufacturers of products that range from general dental consumables and laboratory products to products supporting the dental specialty marketing of orthodontics, endodontics, and implants, and dental labs.

Dental fluid dispensing applications include:

• The use of the SmartDispenser® linear drive technology to precisely dispense viscous and typically filled, often abrasive orthodontic bonding paste into single use ceramic brackets.
• The use of the SmartDispenser® linear drive technology to dispense dental equipment manufacturers’ proprietary fluids that chrysalises when exposed to moisture in the air since pneumatic (air) dispensers cannot be used for the assembly of ultrasonic dental inserts for teeth cleaning.
• The use of the SmartDispenser® to repeatedly package dental paste into Genius® 3cc syringes, utilizing the customized Fishman® syringe fill specification based on Fishman® testing of the fluid, determining the best utilization of syringe size, tip to be used, and proper filling amount for the application.
• The use of the SmartDispenser® to dispense cyanoacrylates and UV cures for the assembly of dental instruments.
• The use of the SmartDispenser® in dental labs for dispensing whitening gel in 1 gram amounts where consistency is critical for testing in lab for R&D work.
• The use of Fishman® Genius® syringes, pistons, and tips for the packaging, protection over time and dispensing for a wide variety of dental fluids.

Using the SmartDispenser® closed process control via the integrated scale at the process design step of a dental product process allows for efficient fluid volume/weight testing and supports validation needs of the medical device/dental device documentation at the process design stage, then subsequently supports the process for manufacturability. This is possible because all fluid dispenses can be recorded, weighed and electronically documented and then be exported to Excel for viewing. In the manufacturing process, the SmartDispenser® is self-monitoring and can be customer set to accept/reject a % of acceptable volume.
